Harmattan or Winter???

Growing up as a child, I’ve always been told there are two seasons in Nigeria: rainy and dry seasons. The times for these seasons are hardly predictable cos you cannot confidently fix a date for an event for fear of the rain ruining the day.

GUEST POST: Who Called The Meeting?

By Olakunmi Oluwabuyide

The rains are on sabbatical
The sun is on duty
Under this heat we perspire
Our strength easily expires
Out of our holes we groan
Our mouths filled with angst moans

Has hell been set loose?
Or are the heavens on fire?
'Where is Lazarus?' we ask
'Open the floodgates', we cry
Pressure mounts...

Suddenly...
Someone has called a meeting
The clouds gather in the west
The sun suspended
The conference doors are thrown open
The wind rushes in
Lightning strikes on
Thunder claps in excitement
Let the meeting begin

And a wet night gives birth to a cold morning
What a relief!
Who called for this meeting?, I ask myself
Thank God for the weather
Thank God whenever

The Rebirth

Happy New Year y’all, I should be banned from this web space for inconsistency *covers face. This year is still very much new; I know a number of us have made resolutions. Well, for the first time in the twenty-something years I’ve spent on earth I actually wrote down my resolutions. There comes a point in life you feel like you are growing old and confusion creeps in, that’s the stage I’m in right now.

I’m not here to bore you with my banter, but I’m certain that there are a-million-and-one fireflies at the end of the tunnel. With a grateful heart, I thank God for making us see this New Year despite all odds. He has taken our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. I’ve resolved this year to give my all to Him; this of course involves dropping attitudes, habits and friends (as the case may be).

It’s not going to be easy though, If you happen to be reading this I want you to know that there are life struggles, they make us better or worse- the choice is yours to decide how you handle these situations. We ain’t perfect, but let us work towards perfection this year. We are not remaining at the same age we were last year, likewise we shouldn’t be satisfied with our status-quo. Even as we age and mature, let us all make conscious efforts to allow rebirth….

I hope to be consistent in publishing posts, its part of my rebirth process. It’s the year of Jubilations in my church; I pray we all have cause(s) to celebrate this year.

Have a fulfilling year
